In simultaneous interpreting, the interpreter works from an interpreting booth equipped with a microphone and headset. The interpreter hears the speaker and interprets the speech simultaneously into another language. Interpretation is transmitted instantaneously through the microphone to participants’ headphones.
Consecutive interpretation is generally used when it is not possible or suitable to use simultaneous interpreting equipment. In this form of interpreting, the interpreter takes notes while the speaker speaks for a few sentences or a few minutes. When the speaker stops, the interpreter conveys what was said into the other language.
It may not be necessary to set up interpretation booths for small meetings such as board meetings or in-house meetings. We can instead provide interpretation via mobile interpreting equipment, known as infoport, that requires no advance installation.
